FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can benefit from your services?
Our services are perfect for anyone looking to build a connection with a horse—whether you’re new to horses or an experienced rider wanting to improve communication with your own horse.
What kind of training do you offer?
We focus on natural horsemanship techniques, using pressure and release to effectively communicate with the horse and achieve desired results.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes, all participants must sign a waiver before engaging in our programs.
Under Missouri law, equine professionals and activity sponsors are not liable for injuries or accidents resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities (Revised Statutes of Missouri).
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a fee. If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled lesson, a 50% cancellation fee will apply, which must be paid before your next session. We understand that life happens—just let us know in advance so we can adjust our schedule accordingly.
What can I expect during my first visit?
After collecting your signed waiver, we’ll introduce you to your lesson horse and discuss horse safety, grooming, and tacking. We’ll cover groundwork techniques, explaining their importance and how they translate to riding. You'll then get hands-on experience with groundwork maneuvers before mounting up to apply the techniques in the saddle.
What do lessons cost?
Private Lesson: $70 per person for a one-hour session
Buddy Lesson: $60 per person for a shared one-hour session
Group Lessons: Pricing varies based on availability—contact us to discuss options.
Do I need to be physically fit to ride?
Horseback riding requires balance, core strength, flexibility, and stamina. While riders of all skill levels are welcome, maintaining basic fitness will enhance your riding experience.
What should I wear for lessons?
We recommend long pants and boots with a heel for safety and comfort. If you choose to wear a helmet, ensure it fits properly and bring it with you for each lesson.
What type of horses do you use for lessons?
We primarily use American Quarter Horses for their versatility, temperament, and reliability.
Is there a weight limit for riders?
For the safety of both horse and rider, we follow the guideline that a horse should carry no more than 15-20% of its body weight, including tack. With an average Quarter Horse weighing around 1,100 lbs, the maximum recommended rider and tack weight is approximately 220 lbs.
When should I arrive for my lesson?
Please arrive before your scheduled lesson time to allow enough time for tacking up. This ensures you can spend the majority of your lesson working with your horse.
Do you focus on a specific riding discipline?
Our focus is on building strong communication between horse and rider and boosting confidence in both. While we do not specialize in any particular discipline, we primarily use western tack.
How are lessons scheduled?
Lessons are by appointment only. Contact us via phone or email to schedule your session.
Can I participate in your program without riding?
Absolutely! We understand that simply being around horses can be a rewarding experience. However, our standard lesson fees still apply, as we are utilizing the same horse and lesson time.
Do you offer horse training services?
Yes! We’re happy to train your horse and help you work through challenges. We strongly recommend that owners be involved in the training process.
How does horse training work?
In-house training: $300 per week, per horse (owner provides feed, hay, and supplements). Our training follows a five-day training cycle, with daily hands-on sessions. Spaces are limited due to our small facility.
Haul-in training: $70 per hour for a private session or $60 per person for a buddy session. These work similarly to our lesson structure.
Off-site training: Available depending on location and our schedule. Rates are determined on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to discuss options.
Do you have horses for sale?
Occasionally, we offer horses for sale as part of our program.
Do you buy horses?
We are selective in purchasing horses but are always open to learning what you have available. You never know—you might have exactly what we’re looking for!
